In 2016 we put all of our savings into opening Mr Bao in Peckham and have been serving up some of London’s fluffiest buns ever since. Luckily we have been blessed with an incredible team and customers since day one. We took the time over lockdown (when we weren’t bagging up hundreds of delivery orders a day) to knock through into the space next door and double the size of Mr Bao in to the restaurant you see today.
In 2018 we had the opportunity to open Daddy Bao in Tooting, named in honour of Frank’s Dad Joe who had retired after 32 years running his famed Jade Restaurant in Salisbury. Our custom beer also has his face on it and we always try to retain the same focus on hospitality that he always had. Over the years, Daddy Bao has grown into its own identity to suit our neighbourhood and customers in Tooting and the way they like to eat.
In 2019, we were invited to open a kiosk in Westfield’s revamped food court, with a menu that celebrates the flavours of Taiwanese street food and our first Master Bao was born. In May 2024, we headed to East London and opened our second location, this time in Westfield Stratford City. Each site has its own personality, design, exclusive dishes and commitment to great service, even in a food hall.
We’ve always had a storeroom below Daddy Bao but knew it had potential to be something more. We got to work and in September 2024 Good Measure opened – an intimate cocktail bar drawing on the incredible bar scene in Taipei.
